Barclaycard offered me a repayment of £5,000. Two months later, I'm still waiting
I was offered £4,888 compensation by Barclaycard for mis-sold payment protection insurance on 1 August. The letter said payment would be made within four weeks. Since then I have been fobbed off with one excuse after another. I have now been hit with an unexpected bill and urgently need money, but when I rang to chase I was told my payment has been sent to "star chamber" – whatever that is. Star chamber? It sounds as if there's a joker in Barclays call centre who's exhausted the official excuses. Luckily, the press office has a magic button. Your payment has now been made along with a £100 apology for the delay.
